The Goal

The goal of the Car-Free Challenge is to get people to replace car trips with bicycling, walking, transit, or carpooling. These trips can be to work or school, the grocery store, the video store, out to eat, or just to visit friends.

How To

You can participate with a team or on your own. Many people form teams at their workplace, with a club, or with friends. Once you start, just come back to this web site to log your miles. We automatically calculate all of the rankings in real time.

The Rules

We will be ranking teams and individuals on several scales. The overall top team prize will go to the team with the most miles. Winners of the individual categories will also receive prizes. The Car-Free Challenge mostly runs on an honor system, but we do ask for your home and work ZIP codes in case of a dispute.

Rankings in the non-bike categories are determined by the number of trips made, not the miles travelled, so be sure to log each round trip separately.
