NOTICE:
Public Meeting December 14
Where: Southeastern KCMO
What: Redevelopment plan
Who: KCMO (City Planning and Development Department)
Background:
The city is creating a redevelopment plan for the Hickman Mills and Ruskin Heights neighborhoods. This area is typical of many first-ring, inner suburbs: post-WWII tract houses, aging population, declining economy, increasing diversity, and deteriorating infrastructure.
Bike considerations:
This area has several routes on the BikeKC network. East/west routes include 87th, Bannister, 103rd, and Longview. North/south routes include Hickman Mills Drive, Blue Ridge Blvd, and Raytown Road. There is a diverse area of businesses and neighborhoods that are ripe for bike commuting.
Action:
Communicate the need for on-street bike facilities to complement the off-street recreation trails already planned.
