This week there are two opportunities for KCMO residents to personally take an action that will have a direct impact on getting more bike lanes, trails, etc. in the city. One is to make sure bike/ped is included in the city budget, and the other is to reform street design so that bicyclists are better included along with cars.
1. Bike/Ped in the KCMO Budget: Write a letter
Right now the City is drafting next year’s buget. While there are several projects being considered for bike lanes, trails, ADA accommodations, etc. – it is critical for our elected leaders to hear from you that bike/ped is an important priority even in tight budget times.

2. Major Street Plan: Attend an open house
The City is revising this plan that classifies streets as major/minor, identifies bike routes, and sets standards for sidewalks and crosswalks. There are three open houses where you can learn more and provide your suggestions for making KCMO’s streets more bicycle- and pedestrian-friendly.
Open Houses run from 5:00pm to 7:00pm with presentations at 5:30pm and 6:30pm.
