Crossroads fund raising for bike racks

The Crossroads Community Association is raising money to create some cool custom-made bike racks to spread around the Crossroads Arts District.  The idea is to have something both functional and artistic.  They want to get the racks built and installed by Bike Week, so they need to raise $1,000 by Friday.

Bike parking is an essential part of a bike-friendly city.  Cyclists need places to park at destinations like shops, restaurants, offices, etc…  Cities like Chicago, Denver, and Portland all started their bike-friendly efforts by simply installing bike racks all over town. The City has made some great progress incorporating bike racks into streetscape projects in the Downtown Loop, and the Westport Community Improvement District has installed some cool racks around that neighborhood. It will be great to see the Crossroads join them.
