The first phase of Independence’s Rock Creek Trail is now open in the western part of the city. The first 1.5 mile segment runs from Rotary Park near 23rd and Northern to Country Club Park near 30th and Norton. It’s a small start, but the Rock Creek Trail will eventually run east-west across the length of Independence and connect with the Little Blue Trace Trail.
