On Saturday a 65 year-old cyclist was injured in a road rage hit-and-run incident at the Downtown Airport. The road around the Charles Wheeler Downtown Airport is a popular spot for cyclists and runners – a flat, low-traffic loop in an otherwise hilly city.
KSHB-TV 41 reports that KCPD questioned a woman that the victim thinks works at the airport. Meanwhile, MoBikePed speculates on the possible penalties for such an alleged crime. No charges have been filed yet, but KSHB says that police are still working the case.

Wow! This is so sad! I ride there all the time and have never encountered such a person. I do hope they find them and punish them to the fullest extent of the law.
Very scary! There is soo much hatred out there for cyclists (and love), and to be so angry at a old man and his son enjoying a nice ride blows my mind. Why not just go around, like when passing any slower motor vehicle. I guess air traffic controllers do have very stressful jobs. But it concerns me to think someone with such disregard for human life is directing a plane full of humans to land safely.
I know this driver, and she has always been nice to everyone. I’ve seen the news clip and it sure doesn’t sound like something that she would do. I haven’t spoken to the driver to hear if this is true. So is everyone sure they are pointing the finger at the right person?
