New lowland bypass opens on Mill Creek Streamway Trail in Johnson County

Johnson County Parks and Recreation has just opened a new section of trail that bypasses an infamous hilly section of the Mill Creek Streamway Trail (a.k.a. Gary L. Haller Trail).  The new lowland option runs between mile markers 5.5 and 7 in the northwest corner of Shawnee Mission Park. The bypass will make more of the trail accessible to people with mobility issues, and the hilly option will remain for those who choose more of a challenge.

Are you saying my girlfriend has “mobility issues” just because those hills are too steep for her? :)

I rode the other day and was so excited to this option. I read it as part of a 45 mile ride and some days that hill kills me so bad I worry I’ll never make it home.

This is great news for my brakes.
