The city recently sent this update on progress on the Trails KC plan.  Several trails projects are in various stages of design and construction, with a couple of trail segments schedule for opening this fall.

Since the adoption of the Trails KC Plan in Nov 2008, staff has been hard at work getting several projects ready for and under construction and pursuing multiple funding opportunities.

Construction Update:

• Indian Creek Trail – construction of the segment from 99th/Holmes to Lydia is current underway. Estimated completion date is October 2009.
• Line Creek Trail – construction will commence this fall on the segment from 68th to 76th St.
• Three Trails Corridor Trail – construction from Wornall to Pennsylvania is nearing completion. Estimated completion date is mid September 2009.
• Vivion Trail from NE 47th St to Highland completed in May 2009.

Funding Update:

• Since Nov 2008, $2.9 million secured from local, state and federal funding sources for Trails KC construction, design, acquisition and maintenance.
• An additional $4.9 million secured this fiscal year for bridge projects that incorporate Trails KC trail and on-street bicycle facilities.
