Ride: Bike for the Brain

[ July 28, 2008; 7:00 am; ] Rides start at the Johnson County Mental Health Center
6000 Lamar, Mission, KS

This annual ride raises awareness of mental health issues and raises money for organizations that support patients and families dealing with mental illness.  Ride options include 10, 25, 50, and 62.5 miles.  Rest stops with food and water are provide, plus full SAG support.

The KCMO City Council recently passed a very extensive climate protection plan designed to dramatically reduce the city’s greenhouse gas emissions. The plan includes some significant directives designed to encourage more bicycling and walking for transportation.  Bike/Ped facilities are to be included in new and rebuilt roads and infrastructure, 1% of the city’s transportation budget [...]

I can’t believe it took so long for on the most popular destinations for bicyclists to finally add a bike rack, but here it is, complete with giant motorcycle.

Triangle Trail Groundbreaking

The City of KCMO will kick off construction on another segment of the trail across south KC, including the new bike/ped bridge over US 71 Highway.

This month marks some good progress on trail projects on the city’s far south side, both of which are high priority corridors in the new Trails KC! master plan.
