The Bicycle Tutor is a great web site with helpful videos covering everyhing from adjusting a derailleur to fixing a bottom bracket. I’m a software guy, not a hardware guy, so this site is gonna be really helpful for things I could probably do myself but would normally hire out.

Lieutenant David Dillon of the Douglas County (KS) Sheriff’s Department was hit and killed this morning while bicycling near the town of Eudora.  There aren’t many details yet, but both Fox 4 and KSHB-TV 41 have reports.

[ July 4, 2008; 7:00 am; ] 70 scenic miles from Independence to Lexington (and back) along the Missouri River. Starting from the State Farm office building in southeast Indepedence.  Take I-70 to the Little Blue Parkway exit, then north one block to Jackson Drive. This ride is free but unsupported, no SAG service.

[ July 6, 2008; 6:00 am; ] One of the KC Bike Club’s more challenging rides, the Nothland Nightmare includes the big hills and beautiful scenery that the Northland is known for. 100, 62,50 and 25 mile routes are available, all with the full SAG service that KCBC is famous for.  It all starts at Bennett Park in Liberty.

Mid-America Regional Council’s Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee makes recommendations on transportation policy and includes a wide range of representatives from elected officials, city staff, state government, and advocacy organizations. The public is welcome to attend.

The city is working a new master plan for all of the neighborhoods in the Greater Downtown Area, from the river to 31st Street.  This meeting will focus on the area generally including the Westside, Crossroads Arts District, Crown Center, and Union Hill.
