On Wednesday morning Mayor Funkhouser is holding a press conference to announce a really bold initiative - achieving the League of American Bicyclists’ platinum level Bicycle Friendly Community.  So for only the cities of Davis, CA and Portland, OR have achieved that level.  Think it sounds ambitious for Kansas City?  Well, it is. But Portland started in similar position, and we finally have a commitment from the highest levels of City Hall to make Kanas City a real bicycle friendly city.  The goal is to get platinum by 2020, so we have plenty of time to do all the hard work necessary.

So if you are Downtown at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, please take a few minutes to come to the press conference and help us make a strong showing of support when the Mayor makes this major announcement to the news media.
