Andy Clarke, Director of the League of American Bicyclists, will lead a Bicycle Friendly Workshop for the Kansas City Region. Trek’s advocacy director, Rebecca Anderson will also speak on building Bicycle Friendly Communities. Elected officials and city staff from the region are invited to participate. The charge is $45 and registration opens at 7:30 a.m. Continental breakfast and lunch will be provided. Online registration is at www.marc.org/sustain/bikefriendly.asp or call 816/701-8234.
Please encourage your mayor, city council, or city staff to attend this workshop so that they can learn how to make your community more bicycle friendly.
Bicycle Friendly Communities is a national program that recognizes cities that have taken steps promote cycling through infrastructure, policy, law, education, etc. Shawnee, KS is the first and only city in the KC region to have attained the Bike Friendly designation, but hopefully many more will follow.
