Today the City Council’s Transportation Committee endorsed a plan to legalize pedicabs in KCMO. Unfortunately the owners of the Country Club Plaza where able to get Councilmember Jan Marcason to carve out an exception for the Plaza. So pedicabs could soon be legal everywhere but the city’s most popular tourist neighborhood.

Pedicabs approved!

Today the full City Council approved the pedicab ordinance.  The city is also fast-tracking the licensing process so that they can be up and running during the Big 12 tournament next week.

Volker Bicycles Grand Opening

Joco Trail Mainentance

Today the Star’s Watchdog column covers poor trail maintenance in Johnson County.  It seems that Overland Park is having trouble keeping up with the Joneses in Olathe, but they promise to do better.

KCMO’s Public Improvements Advisory Committee (PIAC) has recommended funding for almost $1 million in trail projects for 2008-2009. This citizens committee makes the City Council on projects funded by the city’s sales tax. The full City Council will make the final decision later this month.
