Today MoDOT released plans for the Paseo Bridge replacement, to be known as the Christopher S. Bond Bridge. As promised, the design allows for a bike/ped lane to be added in the future, once there are levee trails for it to connect to.

The choice of a cable-stayed bridge means that the road bed has to be build wide enough from the beginning. The chosen design has a southbound shoulder that can be converted to a bike/pedway with the addition of a barrier and fencing. Once a trail is built along the north levee we will need to find local money to install the barrier and build ramps up to the bridge.
