Aggie is pro-bike lane
Published October 4th, 2007 in AdvocacyThis one is random yet interesting… Parks Board member Aggie Stackhaus speaks out in favor of bike lanes on the city’s boulevards.
“Why can’t we accommodate bicycle lanes on our boulevards?” she asked. “I want bike lanes and I am not even a bicyclist.”
That Kansas City Parks Commissioner Aggie Stackhaus is a force of nature was apparent at Tuesday’s board meeting.
With her booming voice and hearty laugh, Stackhaus made her presence known on issues ranging from a proposed Korean War Veterans Memorial to her TV time.
On the issue of bike lanes, Stackhaus declared that boulevards and parkways need more of ‘em, despite that some parks officials have doubts about the feasibility.
“Why can’t we accommodate bicycle lanes on our boulevards?” she asked. “I want bike lanes and I am not even a bicyclist.”
She also told Chairman John Fierro that she liked that he was out of Kansas City recently on business. She said she got plenty of television time since he wasn’t available to represent the park board.
“I loved it!” she exclaimed. She implied that further absences would be appreciated.
“Glad I was missed,” Fierro replied wryly.
