New Bike Racks On 12th Street
Published October 2nd, 2007 in Commuting, planning
I can’t believe my eyes, but the rumors are true! Real, live, U-Racks have materialized in Downtown KC. These racks are on 12th Street, and were recently installed as part of the downtown streetscape master plan. Hopefully we will see more as the streetscape plan is implemented incrementally throughout the Loop.
There are about three racks per block. The design is similar to the Inverted U which is standard in many other cities, although the 12th Street racks are more like an Inverted V so as to match the rest of the streetscape elements. These racks join the post-and-ring racks already in place in the Library District. Kudos to KCMO Bike/Ped Coordinator Deb Ridgway and the Capital Improvements Management Office.
