Teen hit in Lone Jack
Published August 29th, 2007 in CrashesKMBC-TV reports that a 15 year-old Lone Jack boy was hit by a truck yesterday while crossing US 50 Highway on his way to football practice. Brennon Maxwell is currently at Children’s Mercy Hospital with life threatening injuries.
Just over a year ago Lone Jack cyclist Kelly Battman was hit and killed crossing 50 Hwy. It’s a bad situation there. The highway is four lanes, but it is not controlled access. Streets cross at-grade without any ramps or overpasses. The town has compounded the problem by encouraging growth on both sides of the highway, requiring many residents to cross the highway in order to reach businesses and schools.
