Gaunt Memorial Ride
The turnout at this evening's memorial ride for Sierra and Larry Gaunt was amazing. The news media is reporting over 650 cyclists. Larry's son and grandson lead the ride on a tandem. Specials thanks to KCMO, Lee's Summit, and Grandview police for escorting the ride and for the MS 150 folks for keeping us hydrated.
Video is online from KMBC-TV and WDAF-TV. Here are some photos tagged on Flickr with gauntmemorialride. And here are more photos form Noah.

I was unable to make it out there for the ride, but I’m glad that a fairly large group of cyclists were able to make it out there, especially in the heat.
Larry was my cousin by birth but my brother in my heart. He and Sierra were precious to our family. It’s now been three weeks and I still feel like it can’t possibly be true that this horrible thing is reality. I’ve also been amazed by the show of support the biking community has given. I truly hope no other family is faced with this situation ever again. What can be done to make the roads safer for riders?
