Update: The cyclist has been identified as Erick Sharda of the local band The Popsicles. He is currently hospitalized at KU Medical Center with serious injuries. Erick’s bandmates are posting updates on his condition on MySpace.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Police are searching for a driver involved in a weekend hit and run that injured a bicycle rider.

Witnesses told police a black Mustang hit a bicyclist at West 38th Street and Baltimore Avenue late Saturday night, then took off from the scene.
