KCMO Trails Plan Update
Published June 8th, 2007 in GeneralLast week several bicyclists met with city staff and consultants from TranSystems and Alta Planning to look at route options for connecting the urban core with the KCMO City-Wide Trails Plan. The plan is mostly for off-street and multi-use trails, but it will include many on-street connections in developed areas where trails cannot be squeezed in.
We gathered around some giant maps with highlighters and chose routes for further study. Of particular interest was a good on-street route to connect the Trolley Track Trail terminus at Brush Creek up through Midtown and Downtown to the riverfront. Another critical route will be an east-west connection through the East Side to the future trail along the Blue River.
We also talked about varies facility options like bike lanes, shared lanes, physically separated bike lanes, etc. Hopefully this summer the public will see a draft plan for making this crucial on-street connections.
