Bike to Work Week a Success
Published May 21st, 2007 in CommutingThe 2007 Bike to Work Week was a huge success in the KC metro area. Events all over the region promoted bike commuting and helped people get started. Over 100 people road the Tour de Cowtown, setting new record for local alleycat races. The Commuter Challenge had another record year - 395 people logged a grand total of 19,700 miles. In one week we saved Kansas City 18,700 pounds of carbon dioxide and $3000 in gasoline costs. See all of the results here.
A big shout out to Deb Ridway at Bridging the Gap for leading the team that organized the week. And many thanks to all of the bike shops and companies that donated prizes, and to all of the local organizations that sponsored events.
