Commuting season commences
Published March 15th, 2007 in CommutingNoah notices the return of the 3-season bike commuters. Personally I’ve noticed a lot more bikes a lot earlier this year. Folks riding in Critical Mass report that it regular drew 20-30 riders through the winter. Yesterday evening I rode through Volker, Westport, Hyde Park, and Union Hill - and saw at least 30 bikes out on the streets of Midtown. There were probably another 15 parked at various businesses. If this is any indication of things to come, I’d bet money we see a record year for cycling in KC.

Agreed. Wednesday , within the first half mile of my commute home I encountered around 5 other cyclists - that is 5 more than I’ve normally seen. Also, I saw a bunch of folk in Lycra out ~Prairie Village and the Plaza Wednesday evening.
With “commuting season” starting again, thus ends the lunch season. I work close to a buddy and we’d go to lunch quite often. Now that we’re both riding to work neither of us has a car there. My walking distance options include Wendy’s, or if I choose to walk over 435 on Roe, I can get to a Goodcents.
Stupid suburbs!
