Election Endorsements

For the first time ever the bicycle and pedestrian community has joined the political process and endorsed candidates for Mayor and City Council in Kansas City. These are the candidates that we feel rank best on bike/ped issues and voting record.

Print this list and take it with you to the voting booth on Tuesday Feb. 27. If you live in the burbs please share it with your friends and family in the city.

You can read more about the candidates and the positions of all candidates on bike/ped issues at kcbike.info/election2007.

John Fairfield and Russ Johnson deserve special praise. Fairfield has been a key ally on the current City Council, sponsoring legislation on bridge policy, the Katy Trail, etc. He was also the only current elected leader to show up at vigils for fallen cyclists. Russ was key in getting money for the bike lanes on Barry Road and Congress Avenue in the Northland, as well as funding the new City-wide Trails Master Plan.
