New Bike Maps

The Mid-America Regional Council has updated its Greater KC Bikeways and Trails Map. This much-improved map should look familiar to folks who have used the excellent bike maps in Chicago, Portland, etc. The KC map includes on-street bike routes, bike lanes, off-street multi-use trails, mountain bike trails, bike shops, and hospitals.

Indian Creek Trail Closure

Local bike blogger/commuter Warren has an update on Johnson County’s Indian Creek Trail, which has been partially due to highway construction.

The Quad-State Trail is planned network of trails linking  Missouri, Iowa, Kansas, and Nebraska, with KC at the hub.

The motorist in the January 2005 hit-and-run of 13 year-old Juan Portillo has plead guilty and will serve up to four months in jail for the felony of leaving the scene of an injury accident.  The charge can carry up to a four year sentence.
