How do we encourage bike commuting?

Jeff at Greased Melon has some thoughts on how get more people commuting by bike. I'm optimistic that we will see some progress this year. Share the Road and Bike Route signs should start popping up this spring on KCMO's long-delayed bike network. Bike to Work Week is shaping up to be bigger than ever. There are efforts underway to better engage law enforcement and create safer climate for cycling. And then there is the Tour of Missouri. It's hard to explain just how big this is. But I think after that the tour rolls through the state in September we will see bicycling raised to a whole new level.
