Bike the Overpass

Olathe is opening a new overpass over I-35 tomorrow and Dale Crawford wants bikes to be some of the first vehicles over the new bridge. Sounds like a great opportunity for cyclists to be visible at a high-profile event, especially considering recent efforts to create a new bike plan in Olathe.
Be the first to [...]

Bicycle Tourism in KC?

Don't laugh too quickly, we do have the potential for some bicycle tourism.  Today the Star examines some of that possibility in an article about the Riverfront Heritage Trail.  A noteworthy statistic is that 1.6 million tourists bike and hike in Missouri every year, ranking higher than either boating or golfing.  Most of those likely [...]

In May 2005 Mayor Kay Barnes signed the US Mayors Climate Protection Agreement, an initiative to implement the Kyoto agreements on a local level in the absence of federal leadership.  Unfortunately the Chamber of Commerce got involved in the legislative process and the result was a toothless ordinance with few real targets for greenhouse gas [...]

Cyclist hit in Prairie Village

Local cyclist Jeff Denny was hit by a car this morning at Roe and Tomahawk.  Jeff is a regular bike commuter and was on his way to work at the time of this crash. Fortunately he's OK and already has the story on his blog.

New commuter blog

kc-bike.blogspot.com is a new blog from a new KC bike commuter.  This guy commuters from Olathe to Downtown with the help of the bus, so he gets bonus points for being multi-modal!
