Vivion Trail
Published November 29th, 2006 in trailsAt the recent Missouri Trails Summit I sat in on a presentation on the new Vivion Trail, a multi-use trail being built alongside Vivion Road. This road is a major east-west artery through the Northland, but it's unimproved without shoulders, curbs, sidewalks, etc. The addition of bike/ped facilities is long overdue.
The long-term vision is a trail stretching from Riverside, through KCMO, and on to Liberty, but right now work is focused on the KCMO segment between North Oak and Antioch.
- Phase 1: Completed through Anita Gorman Park, from North Oak Trafficway to near Davidson Street.
- Phase 2: Extend existing trail east to Highland. Construction scheduled for 2007.
- Phase 3: East to Antioch Center and the Metro Park & Ride. Currently being designed, construction scheduled for 2008.
- Bonus: Sidewalk improvements along NE 48th St. to connect the trail to Northgate Middle School and the Clay County government annex
