Shortly after the Pitch once again exposed the dismal state of KCMO's bike network plan, the city has posted a good version of the proposed route map. Folks at City Hall still say that signage for these routes should start going up by the end of the year. This is primarily a network of on-street routes, but there is still no indication of which segments will be bike lanes or shared lanes. In the mean time, the map is a good resource for planning a route through the city.

Under the BikeKC plan, what would it mean the proposed “bike routes” consist of? I assume they wouldn’t all have dedicated lanes, although that would be nice.
Adam,
The BikeKC plan does not specify the type of facility for any particular bike route. That decision has been left for the future, and is one of the weaknesses of the plan. Ideally each route should be designated with a specific type of facility – e.g. bike lane, shared-use lane, or off-street trail.
