The Mid-America Regional Council (MARC) recently approved over $2 million in grants for metro bicycle facilities in 2007-2008. This particular set of grants is part of MARC's program for congestion mitigation and air quality (CMAQ). A big chunk of the money will go towards filling in some key gaps in the Riverfront Heritage Trail, and the rest goes to various projects around the region.

  • Riverfront Trail/Kaw Point connector - KCK - $643,200
  • Riverfront Trail/ASB Bridge underpass - Kansas City, MO - $200,000
  • Rock Creek Trail - Mission, KS - $320,000
  • M-1 bicycle/pedestrian trail - Gladstone, MO - $160,000
  • Monticello Rd. bicycle/pedestrian facilities - Shawnee, KS - $540,000
  • Unified bicycle/pedestrian transportation program - MARC - $86,000
  • UMKC student commute pilot project - Bridging the Gap - $125,000

TOTAL - $2,074,200
