The Mid-America Regional Council (MARC) recently approved over $2 million in grants for metro bicycle facilities in 2007-2008. This particular set of grants is part of MARC's program for congestion mitigation and air quality (CMAQ). A big chunk of the money will go towards filling in some key gaps in the Riverfront Heritage Trail, and the rest goes to various projects around the region.

- Unified bicycle/pedestrian transportation program – MARC – $86,000
- UMKC student commute pilot project – Bridging the Gap – $125,000
