The city is preparing a big plan to guide the revitalization of the Hickman Mills neighborhood on the KCMO's far south side. It's a part of the city that resembles a post-WWII, inner-ring suburb like Raytown or Grandview - and as such it's aging poorly and in need of some redevelopment. Outdated tract houses, a lack of sidewalks, a disproportionate concentration of public housing, and the dying Bannister Mall are challenges for this area rich in the history of the California, Oregon, and Santa Fe Trails.

Three plans have been proposed, but none include the integration of on-road bicycle facilities. Please take some time to demand the inclusion bikes in the plans for Hickman Mills.
