Pitch’s annual bicycle rant

This week was the time for the Pitch's annual bicycle rant, the one where a columnist complains about KC's cycling environment and then fails to follow up with any more coverage for another year. This year Ben Paynter takes over the annual duty from the dearly departed Tony Ortega.

Kudos to the pitch for the column, but shame on them for so little coverage of our cycling world. We really need more public awareness but the pitch really fails to cover this important issue for our city.

It’s really hypocritical for the Pitch to gripe about bicycling in Kansas City when they completely ignore the issue for the other 364 days of the year. Many of the other papers in the chain that owns the Pitch feature very regular coverage of bicycle culture and politics, so why is the Pitch so far behind the curve?
