Here is some info on upcoming improvements to Hwy 45 in the Northland and Hwy 150 in the south.
MoDOT is planning two big road projects at opposite ends of the metro area, in areas experiencing rapid surburbanization and along prime commuter corridors (Details below). Now is the time to send MoDOT your input, asking for bicycle and pedestrian accommodations on these roads.

Route 150 – This route runs along 147th Street on the southern border of Jackson County before turning north to 135th Street at State Line Road. It serves SKC, Grandview, Belton, Lee's Summit, and Greenview. Route 150 a major suburban commuter corridor across the south metro area. MoDOT is already planning to include bicycle accomodations on this road, but they your help to decide what type of facility to include. Possibilities include bike lanes, wide shared-use lanes, parallel multi-use trail(s), etc. A public meeting is coming up on July 17 to discuss improvements between US 71 and MO 291.
Route 45 - This route is also known as NW 64th Street in KCMO and Tom Watson Parkway in Parkville. Improvements are planned between I-435 and Route 9 (at the Parkville Commons strip mall). The Northland Trails Vision Plan calls for a future trail along in the Route 45 corridor, connecting to the new 64th Street trail in KCMO. Here is more project info and contacts.

150 would be an awesome commuter route if MoDOT does this!
