Northland Chamber opposes Paseo bike/ped

Paseo BridgeThe Northland Chamber of Commerce just came out with a position statement opposing a bicycle/pedestrian facility on the new Paseo Bridge replacement.  That group is very concerned about creating an iconic bridge, and is worried that a bike/ped path would jeopardize the project's budget.  They do support accommodation on the Heart of America Bridge, but not with any of the Paseo money.

One Response to Northland Chamber opposes Paseo bike/ped

  1. Jeff says:

I know whos interest they are representing, but it’s still frustraiting to see this kind of publicity. Although, I enjoyed the way the Star phrased it (“They’re against cyclists and hate walkers!”).

Form follows function. We’re building a bridge to get across a river, not as a monument to ourselves. We need to focus on that part first.
