Leawood police think they have identified the driver of a black Mercedes that struck a boy on a bicycle over the weekend.
Thomas G. Lipscomb III, 45, of Overland Park, has been charged in municipal court with leaving an accident scene and failing to yield the right of way. He surrendered to police Wednesday.
The 12-year-old boy was struck about 2:15 p.m. Saturday while crossing Roe Avenue on 119th Street when the Mercedes began a right turn onto 119th Street.
The boy suffered cuts on his leg. Lipscomb told police he had talked with the boy and thought he could leave because the youth said he was all right.
